Conductor, Pianist and Vocal Coach Andrew Samlal hails from the Caribbean twin isle of Trinidad and Tobago and is quickly gaining recognition for his skills as an operatic and symphonic conductor and at the keyboard.
Some of Samlal's musical engagements includes Associate Conductor, Pianist and Coach (Des Moines Metro Opera Company), Music Director (Delaware Valley Opera Company, Le nozze di Figaro 2024), Assistant Conductor (Prague Summer Nights), Apprentice Conductor (Philadelphia Ballet) and Faculty Conductor (Temple University). As a collaborative pianist, Samlal has been privileged to have extensive experience in choral, operatic, christian and jewish religious services.
Samlal is currently completing doctoral conducting studies at the University of Maryland where he studies with David Neely. He worked as Music Director with the UMD University Orchestra and Assistant Conductor with the Maryland Opera Studio. Some artists Samlal has worked with include Markand Thakar, Beatrice Affron, Lambert Orkis, Sara Davis Buechner and Joyce Lindorff.
